Japan, Hong Kong Find Strength

Asian markets opened the week on a cautious note on Monday, tracking lower U.S. futures and softer economic data out of China. Regional investors are monitoring shifting interest rate expectations, a weaker U.S. dollar, and ongoing tech sector adjustments tied to artificial intelligence spending

In Japan, the Nikkei 225 vaulted 506.45 points, or 0.7%, to 68,713.80

In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng climbed 336.38 points, or 1.3%, to 25,423.23.

In other markets;

Korean markets were closed for holiday.

In Shanghai, the CSI index gained 75.22 points, or 1.6%, to 4,741.10.

In Singapore, the Straits Times index tallied 24.87 points, or 0.4%, to 5,768.40.

In Taiwan, the Taiex index regained 46.26 points, or 0.1%, to 45,87.27.

In New Zealand, the NZX 50 dipped 132.4 points, or 1%, to 13,721.98

In Australia, the ASX lost 42.04 points, or 0.5%, to 9,073.18.
