Five Incredibly Easy Ways to Save Money

Saving money doesn’t have to be difficult. Here are five ways to save that are incredibly easy.

We’ve all heard the advice of taking a lunch to work to avoid having to spend $10+ at some fast food joint. But many of us struggle with having enough time in the morning to pack a lunch.

Which is why you should do all the work the night before. Just make sure you make enough extra dinner for leftovers and stick it in the fridge. All you’ll need to do is grab it on your way out the door.

Many people wash down their lunch with soda. Rather than buying one from the machine at work, buy a 12-pack at the store. You’ll save money and cut down consumption of something that’s not very good for you.

When shopping for work clothes, make sure your first stop is goodwill. You’ll find like-new clothes for a fraction of their retail price. It’s easy to save $100+ when even buying just a few things.

When looking to pick up a new vehicle, remember two things. The used market will always be cheaper than new models, and to take a contrarian philosophy when choosing what to buy. An unloved model will be cheaper; just make sure not to buy a lemon.

And finally, most Canadians can easily lower their smartphone bill by $10 or $20 a month by switching to one of the low-cost providers, and not paying for perks they don’t use. Making these changes won’t take much time at all, and the recurring benefits are huge.
