3 Easy Ways To Save Money on Travel

Just about everyone likes to travel, they just don’t like paying full price to do so. Here are three easy ways to get the most out of your travel budget.

Don’t be picky

Pigeonholing yourself into one or two potential destinations isn’t a smart idea. Instead, stay flexible and shop for potential deals to a number of different locations. Various travel newsletters make this pretty easy.

It’s the same with hotels. Using services like Priceline or Hotwire to save a few bucks is easy and painless, depending on the city. Or, if you’re a really frugal traveler, consider hostels. You’ll save a lot of money for having less personal space.

Shoulder seasons

Summer is a great time to travel. It’s warm, there’s always lots to do, and everyone has time off.

But if you want to save money, travel in the spring or fall instead.

Prices fall drastically during these shoulder seasons, but that’s not the only advantage.

Attractions are also much slower, a nice perk for those of us who don’t like braving crowds.

Credit card rewards

Many people collect credit card rewards throughout the year, with the goal to use them towards a flight somewhere.

Some people do things differently, choosing to use a particular hotel’s credit card to get points that can be used for free nights at one particular chain. These rewards can add up much faster than airline points.
