Use Facebook To Save $1000s Per Year

Facebook isn’t just for sharing cute baby pictures, selfies, and inappropriate political rants any longer. You can also use it to save a lot of money buying the things you already buy anyway.

Here’s how it works. If your community is of a reasonable size, it has one (or most likely, many more than one) Facebook page that essentially serves at a marketplace for used goods. Folks put their wares on the page, along with a picture or two, and interested buyers can either bid or agree to buy it, depending on the rules of the page.

Buyers and sellers then pick a spot to meet and complete the transaction. No-shows are a common problem, but for the most part the system works pretty well.

There are hundreds of different items on there, ranging from expensive things like furniture and appliances to little things like kids toys and books. Most of it is available for a mere fraction of retail price as anxious sellers gladly take a reduced price in exchange for making it go away.

It’s easy to spend hours browsing the various buying pages on Facebook, searching for deals that can be flipped for more cash. Instead, just use each page’s search function to narrow down on the items you want. It saves a lot of time.

And be patient. It might take a few days or weeks to find something you want at the price you’re willing to pay. There’s likely plenty of supply out there.
