Apple Launches Vision Pro Headset In Canada With $5,000 Price Tag

Apple’s (AAPL) Vision Pro augmented reality headset is now for sale in Canada at a cost of $5,000.

Apple, which launched the Vision Pro in the U.S. earlier this year, expanded its availability on July 12 to its stores in Canada, France, Germany and the United Kingdom (U.K.).

The headset allows users to play video games, view photographs and watch movies in a virtual setting.

While the Vision Pro has received strong reviews, many analysts have taken issue with the steep price, especially compared to cheaper alternatives such as Meta Platforms’ (META) Quest virtual reality headset that sells for about $500 in Canada.

The low-end model of the Vision Pro will retail in Canada for $4,999, which includes 256 GB of storage. A higher end model that has one terabyte of storage costs $5,599.

Apple has been heavily promoting the Vision Pro’s capabilities to get consumers to see past the expensive price.

At the same time, there have been media reports that Apple is working to develop a cheaper version of the Vision Pro headset that will compete more directly against the Meta Quest device.

Apple’s stock has risen 20% over the last 12 months and is currently trading at $227.57 U.S. per share, near an all-time high.
