Consumer electronics giant Apple (AAPL) is raising prices in Canada.
The Silicon Valley-based company is lifting the cost of its Apple Music and Apple TV Plus
services in Canada by $1 to $3 per month, depending on the services and size of the package.
Apple Music's base price for a single listener account will rise $1 to $10.99 per month, while the
Apple TV Plus video streaming platform will jump $3 to $8.99 a month.
This is the first time ever that Apple has raised prices for its streaming services in Canada, and
the decision comes as streaming platforms look for ways to bolster revenues amid inflation and
the rising costs of film and television production.
Apple is rolling out similar price increases in other markets, including in the U.S.
The price of Apple One, a bundled subscription package that includes music, TV, Apple Arcade
and iCloud storage, as well as news and fitness options, will rise by $3 a month in Canada to
$24.95 for a family plan.
Apple’s stock is down 18% this year at $149.45 U.S. per share.
