TSX Composite starts higher today; RMPI in focus

Investing.com - Canadian equities started mixed on Monday. The top gainers were Capped Consumer Staples Index, Capped Energy, Capped Information Technology and Capped Financial indices.

At the market open in Toronto, the TSX Composite Index climbed 0.52%. The TSX Venture and the TSX Smallcap were mixed. The TSX Venture dropped 0.37%, while the Smallcap was up by 0.63%.

  • Celestica Inc (TSX:CLS).: Rose 4.58% or 5.57 points to 127.16.
  • Advantage Oil & Gas Ltd. (TSX:AAV): Increased 4.39% or 0.400 points to 9.520.
  • ARC Resources (TSX:ARX): Climbed 3.32% or 0.87 points to 27.10.

Top Losers:

  • BRP Inc (TSX:DOO): Fell 1.60% or 1.07 points to 65.78.
  • Novagold (TSX:NG): Declined 1.39% or 0.07 points to 4.97.
  • Toronto Dominion Bank (TSX:TD): Dropped 1.38% or 1.08 points to 77.15.

In Commodities Trading:

  • January Brent Oil Contract climbed by 1.66% or 1.21 points to 74.02 a barrel.
  • Crude Oil for January delivery rose 1.29 points to 70.04 a barrel.
  • Gold Futures for December delivery increased 16.60 points to 2,668.30 a troy ounce.

Currency Markets:

  • USD/CAD is trading at 1.3954.
  • EUR/CAD is stable at 1.4688.
  • The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 106.590.
