TSX Composite starts higher today; shares mixed at market open

Investing.com - Canadian equities started mixed on Friday. The top gainers were Capped Materials, Capped Consumer Discretionary and Capped Real Estate indices. Capped Energy, Capped Consumer Staples and Capped Financial were amongst the top fallers.

At the market open in Toronto, the TSX Composite Index climbed 0.09%. The TSX Venture and the TSX Smallcap also increased. The TSX Venture rose 1.00%, while the Smallcap was up by 0.56%.

  • IAMGold (TSX:IMG): Increased 7.22% or 0.51 points to 7.57.
  • First Majestic Silver (TSX:AG): Climbed 7.09% or 0.62 points to 9.36.
  • Fortuna Mining (TSX:FVI): Rose 5.43% or 0.35 points to 6.79.
