TSX Composite in green today; shares up at market open

Investing.com - Canadian equities started with gains on Friday, with rises in all sectors, the most notable ones being the Health Care, Information Technology, Materials and Real Estate indices.

At the market open in Toronto, the TSX Composite Index rose 0.75%. The TSX Venture and the TSX Smallcap also increased. The TSX Venture climbed 0.53%, while the Smallcap increased by 0.81%.

  • Celestica Inc (TSX:CLS).: Climbed 5.38% or 3.80 points to 74.44
  • Winpak (TSX:WPK): Rose 4.52% or 2.04 points to 47.21
  • Seabridge Gold (TSX:SEA): Increased 4.43% or 0.94 points to 22.17

Top Losers:

  • Baytex Energy Corp (TSX:BTE): Declined 5.35% or 0.270 points to 4.790
  • Advantage Oil & Gas (TSX:AAV): Fell 5.51% or 0.540 points to 9.260
  • Headwater Exploration Inc (TSX:HWX).: Dropped 3.11% or 0.225 points to 7.015

In Commodities Trading:

  • Crude Oil for September delivery dropped 1.04 points to 77.24 a barrel.
  • September Brent Oil Contract is down by 1.34% or 1.10 drop to 81.27 a barrel.
  • Gold Futures for August delivery rose 31.60 points to 2,385.10 a troy ounce.

Currency Markets:

  • USD/CAD cruises at 1.38 with a daily range of 1.3807-1.3831.
  • EUR/CAD is over 1.50.
  • The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 104.027.
