Asia-Pacific markets rose Tuesday, tracking gains on Wall Street after the S&P 500 and the NASDAQ Composite rose to new records overnight.
In Japan, the Nikkei 225 index popped 735.84 points, or 1.9%, to 39,248.86.
In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng Index climbed 196.03 points, or 1%, to 19,746.32.
South Korea’s inflation rate climbed in November to 1.5% year on year, higher than October’s inflation reading of 1.3%, and lower than the 1.7% expected by economists polled by Reuters.

In Shanghai, the CSI 300 eked up 4.26 points, or 0.1%, to 3,951.89.
In Taiwan, the Taiex surged 290.53 points, or 1.3%, to 23,027.46
In Korea, the Kospi index recovered 45.62 points, or 1.9%, to 2,500.10.
In Singapore, the Straits Times Index gained 34.78 points, or 0.9%, at 3,786.13.
In New Zealand, the NZX 50 dropped 21.5 points, or 0.2%, to 13,093.18
In Australia, the ASX 200 advanced 47.36 points, or 0.6%, to 8,495.22.
