Canada’s Automotive Sales Rose 8% In July

Canada’s Automotive Sales Rose 8% In July

Canada’s automotive sales increased 8% in July from a year earlier, according to the latest data released by DesRosiers Automotive Consultants.

July marked the ninth consecutive month in which motor vehicle sales in Canada rose, although growth has been moderating as we move through the summer.

The Toronto-based consulting firm said that total light vehicle sales in July slowed from increases of 12.6% in June and 13.5% in May.

Sales across Canada in July totalled 140,942 units, which is below pre-pandemic levels of 173,519 vehicles sold back in July 2019.

DesRosiers said the seasonally adjusted annual rate of sales for July this year came in at 1.55 million vehicles, below sales seen in June.

Sales of cars, trucks and SUVs in Canada plunged during the pandemic due to supply and production disruptions, but have been recovering since last autumn.
