There's no date yet set for the next federal budget in this country, but when it is delivered, Finance Minister Bill Morneau marks the environment as the chief beneficiary.
Morneau was in his Toronto riding Monday to kick off consultations on what could be part of the financial blueprint to be released sometime in the spring.
Speaking to a group of students at Ryerson University, Morneau said health and safety issues, such as gun control, are also themes in his spending plan.
He also made clear the budget will take into account international issues, like trade wars that can send ripples through the domestic economy.
Morneau says the budget will ensure federal finances are prepared for any issues the government can’t predict.
