Porter Airlines Expands Nationwide In Canada

Porter Airlines is expanding its service across Canada as it prepares to take possession of 30 new aircraft.

The Toronto-based carrier has, until now, concentrated its routes on Eastern Canada and the Northeastern U.S. But as its total fleet of aircraft grows to 59 jets, Porter Airlines is expanding westward.

As of February 7, 2023, Porter Airlines will fly from Toronto to Vancouver, as well as between Ottawa and Montreal, and Calgary and Edmonton.

Flights will start as low as $225 for a round-trip, said the company.

Over the course of next year, Porter also plans to expand its routes to include flights out of Ottawa to New York City, Boston, Quebec City and Thunder Bay.

Porter Airlines added that it plans to expand to all major destinations within Canada and the U.S. by 2024 as its fleet of aircraft continues to grow.

Going forward, privately held Porter has plans to add an additional 50 new aircraft, bringing its fleet to more than 100 jets.

Several discount airlines have entered the Canadian market or expanded their presence coming out of the pandemic, including Flair, Swoop and Air Transat.
