Rogers Signs Content Deals With Comcast And Warner Bros. Discovery

Rogers Communications (RCI.B) has signed multi-year content deals with Comcast (CMCSA) and Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD).

The deals will enable Rogers to broadcast sports and entertainment content from Warner Bros. Discovery and NBCUniversal, which is owned by Comcast.

Rogers said that it will launch NBCUniversal's Bravo TV channel in Canada this September.

Beginning in January 2025, Rogers will have access to Warner Bros. Discovery's specialty channels, including HGTV and The Food Network.

Rogers said it also plans to increase investments in generating original content and independent Canadian productions.

Financial details of the content deals were not made public. Rogers stated in its news release that it has invested $6.9 billion in Canadian content over the past decade.

In April, Rogers signed a 10-year deal with Comcast to bring its Xfinity products that include cable TV, internet and phone service to Canadians.

Rogers’ stock has declined 15% so far in 2024 and is down 24% over the past five years. The company’s shares currently trade at $52.54 each.
