Asia Mostly Higher, Though Japan, HK Weigh

Markets in Asia were generally robust Wednesday, though pulled down by losses in Japan and Hong Kong

In Japan, the Nikkei 225 cooled off 116.59 points, or 0.2%, to 66.115.60.

In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng dumped 239.63 points, or 1%, to 24,892.66

In Shanghai, the CSI index slid 21.9 points, or 0.5%, to 4,717.24.

Taiwan’s climb was, led by technology stocks. AI server maker Wiwynn and memory chip producer Nanya Technology both surged 10%. TSMC however declined 0.41%

In other markets;

In Singapore, the Straits Times 50 index gained 68.7 points, or 1.2%, to 5,595.42

In Korea, the Kospi index tacked on 49.75 or 0.7%, to 6,797.70

In Taiwan, the Taiex index popped 592.71 points, or 1.3%, to 44,825.78.

In New Zealand, the NZX 50 revived 107.15 points, or 0.8%, to 13,763.18.

In Australia, the ASX surged 29.67 points, or 0.3%, to 8,822.97.
