Japan and Korea showed gains Thursday, while issues in Hong Kong faded.
The Nikkei 225 recovered 924.8 points, or 1.4%, to 67,743.85. Tokyo Electron rose 5.51%, Advantest gained 5.86% and Rakuten Group added 0.49%.
In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng index dropped 169.28 points, or 0.7%, to 24,030.18.
Both Japan and Korea were supported by gains in tech stocks. Samsung gathered 0.2% and SK Hynix climbed more than 5%. Both are Kospi heavyweights.

In Shanghai, the CSI index perked 120.78 points, or 2.5%, to 4,876.31.
In Korea, the Kospi index was positive 45.12 points, or 0.6%, to 7,291.91
In Singapore, the Straits Times 50 index added 64.31 points, or 1.2%, to 5,433.88
The Taiex index in Taiwan weakened 379.8 points, or 0.8%, to 45,345.61
In New Zealand, the NZX 50 regained 120.49 points, or 0.9%, to 13,785.67.
In Australia, the ASX fell 22.55 points, or 0.3% to 8,762.54.
