The Firebiner was created to give woodsman a dual use for a tool they usually have with them anyway. By taking the design of a regular carabiner, the team at Outdoor Element reimagined the design to work in a sparker that can throw out enough sparks to easily ignite a tinder bundle.

The carabiner is rated for 50 pounds, and it also comes with a hidden utility blade for cutting such things as cordage and even seatbelts. The design also features a bottle opener and screwdriver (which is coming soon).

The fire starter works like the sparker on a cigarette lighter. A grooved steel wheel is rotated with the thumb, rubbing the surface along a long, cylindrical ferro rod that is stored within the frame. The ferro rod is replaceable, and the sparker has performed with such reliability that Outdoor Element has affectionately named it the "Everspark."

The Firebiner features durable titanium coating, hang slots to connect loose items, a stainless steel wire gate, replacement ferro rods that come with eachpurchase, and only weighs 1 ounce.

After a myriad of prototypes and field testing, the team at Outdoor Element is ready to take the Firebiner to mass production. In order to offset some of the costs associated with mold production and marketing, they have started a campaign on the crowdfunding site, Kickstarter. Donators are rewarded with perks including Firebiners and other packages containing their popular line of survival tools.

Woodsman and outdoor enthusiasts are always searching for dual purposes when it comes to their equipment. They want lightweight gear that can not only take a beating, but that can perform multiple tasks. A common saying among woodsman is: "Two is one, and one is none." By combining two popular survival tools in one compact application, Outdoor Element has brought redundancy to a whole new level.
