Apple Loses Two More Senior Executives As Exodus Continues

Apple (AAPL) is losing two more senior executives who reported directly to CEO Tim Cook as an exodus from the consumer electronics company continues.

General counsel Kate Adams and vice president for environment, policy and social initiatives Lisa Jackson are retiring from Apple.

The two executives are the latest members of senior leadership to leave the company.

In recent weeks, Apple’s head software designer announced he was departing to join Meta Platforms (META).

At the same time, Apple’s head of artificial intelligence (A.I.) and chief operating officer (COO) have each announced that they are retiring from the technology giant.

Apple has been quick to name new senior executives. In a statement, the company said that Jennifer Newstead, Meta Platforms’ chief legal officer, will become its new general counsel.

The exodus from Apple comes as the company faces increased pressure and threats of tariffs from the Trump administration.

Apple is particularly vulnerable to tariffs as it manufactures most of its consumer electronics such as the iPhone in China and elsewhere across Asia.

Tim Cook has met with U.S. President Donald Trump several times to tout the company’s American manufacturing plans as part of an effort to appease the current administration.

Apple has also come under criticism from analysts for its lack of a robust A.I. strategy. A planned revamp of the Siri digital assistant to include A.I. has been pushed out to 2026.

Newstead, the newest executive to join Apple will become the company’s top lawyer. She previously oversaw Meta’s legal and regulatory matters since 2019.

Prior to joining Meta Platforms, Newstead served as a Trump-appointed legal advisor at the U.S. State Department during the president’s first administration.

AAPL stock has gained 15% this year to trade at $280.70 U.S. per share.
