Asia Mixed Following Trump Car Tariffs

Asia-Pacific markets traded mixed Thursday, tracking losses on Wall Street as investors weighed U.S. President Donald Trump’s 25% tariffs on auto imports.

In Japan, the Nikkei 225 descended 227.32 points, or 0.6%, to 37,799.37

In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng index gained 95.48 points, or 0.4%, to 23,578.80.

In other markets

The CSI 300 in mainland China recovered 13.05 points, or 0.3% to 3,932.41

In Taiwan, the Taiex index dumped 308.53 points, or 1.4%, to 21,951.76

In Singapore, the Straits Times index added 17.86 points, or 0.5%, to 3,981.57

In Korea, the Kospi shed 36.79 points, or 1.4%, to 2,607.15

In New Zealand, the NZX 50 dropped 28.39 points, or 0.2%, to 12,305.79.

In Australia, the ASX 200 hesitated 29.92 points, or 0.4%, to 7,969.04.
