Asia-Pacific markets traded mixed on Wednesday as Wall Street’s earnings season continued and U.S. Federal Reserve officials delivered mixed signals on future rate hikes.

In Japan, the Nikkei 225 settled 52.07 points, or 0.2%, to 28,606.76.

In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng index withered 282.75 points, or 1.4%, to 20,367.76.

In Shanghai, the CSI 300 subtracted 37.47 points, or 0.9%, to 4,124.56.

In other markets

In Singapore, the Straits Times regained 14.49 points, or 0.4%, to 3,324.05.

In Korea, the Kospi eked ahead 3.99 points, or 0.2%, to 2,575.05.

In Taiwan, the Taiex Index faltered 98.97 points, or 0.6%, to 15,770.47.

In New Zealand, the NZX 50 picked up 33.72 points, or 0.3%, to 11,917.82.

In Australia, the ASX 200 forged ahead 5.37 points, or 0.1%, to 7,365.54.
