Canada’s Manufacturing Sales Were Flat In November

Canada’s manufacturing sales were flat in November from October at $72.3 billion.

Statistics Canada said motor vehicle sales in November rose 12.7% to $3.9 billion as assembly plants throughout the country increased production during the month.

Sales in the fabricated metal products industry gained 2.7% to $4.5 billion, and sales in the primary metal industry rose 1.7% to $5.7 billion.

However, chemical sales declined 4.4% to $5.8 billion in November from October as pesticide, fertilizer and other agricultural product sales fell 34.7%.

Sales in the petroleum and coal products industry dropped 2.1% to $10.3 billion, said Statistics Canada. In volume terms, overall sales inched up 0.1% in November
