Calgary Home Sales Hit Record Level In March

Home sales in Calgary, Alberta set a record in March.

According to the Calgary Real Estate Board, 4,107 homes changed hands during March, a 41%
increase from the 2,903 homes sold in March 2021. This March was the second month in a row
in which a record was set in the western Canadian city.

New listings for the month totalled 5,485, up about 23% from 4,440 last March. The average
price of a home in Calgary climbed to $538,283, a 6% jump from $505,459 during the same
month a year ago.

The real estate board warned that while the year started strongly, price gains and rising lending
rates are expected to weigh on demand in the second half of this year. The board also suspects
persistently tight conditions will likely continue to impact the market over the next several
months.
