Asia-Pacific markets extended losses on Thursday, tracking Wall Street’s moves ahead of a slew of economic data from the region on Friday.
In Japan, the Nikkei 225 index lost 502.74 points, or 1.3%, to 38,054.13.
In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng index dropped 246.82 points, or 1.3%, to 18,230.19.
Japan and South Korea will release industrial production figures on Friday. Inflation data for Japan’s capital city of Tokyo will also be released.
CHINA
In Shanghai, the CSI 300 waned 19.21 points, or 0.5%, to 3,594.31, hitting its lowest level in about a month. China will release Friday the official purchasing managers index for May.
In other markets
In Korea, the Kospi index fell 41.86 points, or 1.6%, to 2,635.44.
In Singapore, the Straits Times Index slid 6.89 points, or 0.2%, to 3,323.20.
In Taiwan, the Taiex index subtracted 289.02 points, or 1.4%, to 21,364.48.
In New Zealand, the NZX 50 index shed 121.47 points, or 1%, to 11,557.21.
In Australia, the ASX 200 retreated 37.43 points, or 0.5%, to 7,628.20.
