Asia Roughed up

A semiconductor selloff saw the Kospi Index in Korea temporarily halted Tuesday, as much of the continent got bruised.

In Japan, the Nikkei 225 was punished 2,566.27 points, or 0.4%, to 62,364.92

In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng gained 103.67 points, or 0.4%, to 25, 310.85.

The gains in the Hang Seng were led by utilities and consumer non-cyclicals sectors, up 0.58% and 1.95%, respectively.

CHINA

Mainland China’s CSI 300 was dragged by tech and basic materials sectors, down 6.28% and1.30%, respectively.

In Shanghai, the CSI index dived 132.9 points, or 2.8%, to 4,569.52.

In other markets;

In Singapore, the Straits Times 50 index shaved off 4.13 points, or 0.1%, to 5,616.11

In Korea, the Kospi index fell 732.09 or 10.8%, to 6,023.85

In Taiwan, the Taiex index dumped 2,070.83 points, or 0.1%, to 43,634.19.

In New Zealand, the NZX 50 gathered 11.24 points, or 0.1%, to 13,861.93.

In Australia, the ASX climbed 53.83 points, or 0.6%, to 8,947.79
