Mark Zuckerberg sold $428 million U.S. worth of stock in Meta Platforms (META) during the final two months of last year, according to filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Zuckerberg, who is the co-founder and chief executive officer (CEO) of Meta Platforms, sold 1.8 million shares of the company between Nov. 1 and the end of the year.
The sales come after Meta’s stock rose 194% in 2023 and increased nearly threefold from a seven-year low in November 2022 during a bear market.
The share sales were the first by Zuckerberg in two years. The last time Meta’s CEO sold company stock was in November 2021.
After the latest share sale, Zuckerberg still owns 13% of Meta Platforms, making him the seventh-richest person in the world with a net worth of $125 billion U.S., according to data from Bloomberg Markets.
Meta Platforms’ stock is currently trading at $344.47 U.S. per share and is about 10% from its all-time high of $382.18 U.S. reached in September 2021.
