Tim Hortons is trialing flat bread pizza at 20 outlets in Toronto.
Customers in the Greater Toronto Area can choose chicken parmesan, peperoni, or cheese
pizzas at the select Tim Hortons restaurants.
Tim Hortons, which is named after a former professional hockey player and known for selling
coffee and donuts, has added sandwiches and soups to its menu in recent years, as well as
breakfast food items to diversify its menu.
This is the first time that the fast-food company has experimented with pizza, and the move is
drawing some backlash on social media, with people who’ve tried the flat bread pizzas criticizing
them.
Tim Hortons’ pizza trial is also being criticized for being out of step with the donut chain’s “Back
to Basics” plan that the company has said would “refocus on our founding values and what has
made us famous with our guests over the years.”
Tim Hortons is owned by Restaurant Brands International (QSR), which also owns Burger King,
Popeyes and Firehouse Subs.
Restaurant Brands International’s stock is up 2% this year at $76.04 per share.
