General Motors (GM) is listening to its customers. Firms that do that should experience higher revenue and profits.
Last week, GM debuted a revamped infotainment interface. On the 2027 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks, the system projects the smartphone to the dashboard. The support reverses a previous business decision that nixed CarPlay. GM wanted to collect subscription revenue, along with collecting data about its drivers. It did that to lift its profit margin target to 20% by 2030.
Warren Buffett announced that he would step down as chairman at Berkshire Hathaway (BRK-B). Although he named his son to replace him, Berkshire’s management is in good hands. CEO Greg Abel will continue to invest in deep value companies.
Apple (AAPL) started selling the iPhone 18 Pro last Friday. A month after that release (in October), consumers may consider buying an iPhone Duo, which is foldable. Expect consumers who cannot afford a Duo to buy a Pro model instead. Conversely, fans who waited for a decade for the foldable device will snap up the Duo.
In the AI segment, expect memory chip suppliers to outperform the broader market. Micron Technology (MU) reported an 85% profit margin last quarter. Demand is still rising. After Anthropic’s (ANTHRO) IPO as soon as next month, the euphoria for AI chip suppliers should continue. That gives NVIDIA (NVDA), Micron, and SK Hynix (SKHY) a boost.
