Crypto ‘Fear & Greed’ Index Hits Highest Level Since 2021

The cryptocurrency “Fear & Greed” Index is now at its highest level since late 2021 when the market for digital assets last peaked.

The rise in the index comes as the price of Bitcoin (BTC) reaches $52,000 U.S., its highest level since December 2021. Bitcoin’s market capitalization is now back above $1 trillion U.S.

The Fear & Greed Index is published by data source “alternative.me” and measures market enthusiasm for Bitcoin and other prominent cryptos such as Ethereum (ETH).

The index is now at its highest level since Bitcoin hit its all-time high of just under $69,000 U.S. in November 2021.

The index has been regularly above 70, which is the threshold for “greed,” since last October. It fell as low as 50 following the approval of spot Bitcoin ETFs in January of this year.

Bitcoin has more than doubled its price in the past year and has been steadily rising since the end of January.
