Futures tracking Canada's commodity-heavy stock index edged higher on Tuesday as oil climbed against uncertainty over the Middle East conflict, while gold prices were steady.
The TSX dumped 279.7 points to close Friday at 35,226.14.
September futures bounced 0.7% early Tuesday.
The Canadian dollar eked upward 0.04 cents to 71.2 cents U.S.
Markets in Canada were closed Monday for Civic Holiday.
Investors were also ?digesting second-quarter results from specialty semiconductor producer 5N ?Plus, which topped earnings estimates late on Monday.
Meanwhile, at least three brokerages downgraded Telus after the telecom provider's quarterly results.
A host of energy firms and miners including Suncor Energy and Orla Mining, among others, are set to report quarterly results after the bell.
On the economic beat, in June, Canada's merchandise exports increased 0.4%, while imports edged up 0.2%. As a result, Canada's merchandise trade surplus with the world widened slightly from $3.7 billion in May to $3.9 billion in June.
Later this morning, the Markit Canada Manufacturing PMI for July will be released.

The TSX Venture Exchange dropped 8.37 points, or 1%, to 867.13, Friday making for a loss on the week of 1.7 points.
ON WALLSTREET
Stock futures edged higher Tuesday, with tech shares leading the gains, following a sharp jump in the major indexes in the previous session.
Futures for the Dow Jones Industrials popped 378 points, or 0.7%, to 53,712, led by a 6% rise in Caterpillar shares, after the industrial giant reported better-than-expected Q2 numbers
Futures for the S&P 500 captured 13.75 points, or 0.2%, to 7,642.
Futures for the NASDAQ Composite spiked 239.5 points, or 0.8%, to 29,131.25.
Investors are closely watching SpaceX, which is set to report its first quarterly earnings as a public company later. The rocket company’s share price was up 0.8% ahead of the market open.
The major stock averages surged in Monday’s session, with the Dow closing at a record high, as Amazon eclipsed $3 trillion in market cap for the first time.
Nvidia shares also ripped higher along with Meta Platforms. Google parent Alphabet and Microsoft also popped during the day.
In Japan, the Nikkei 225 gathered 0.3% Tuesday, while in Hong Kong, the Hang Seng retreated 0.6%.
Oil prices dipped 10 cents to $80.24 U.S. a barrel.
Gold prices shone brighter $21.10 to $4,111.60 U.S an ounce.
