OpenAI Plans Desktop Super App For Consumers

Artificial intelligence start-up company OpenAI plans to launch a new desktop super app for consumers that it says will improve productivity.

The super app will reportedly combine its web browser, ChatGPT app, and Codex coding app into a single desktop application.

The new super app also aims to help OpenAI streamline and improve the experience of users and reduce fragmentation across its various products.

The effort to combine OpenAI’s products into one super app comes as the company tries to use A.I. to improve productivity and demonstrate the technology’s use cases.

OpenAI exploded onto the scene with the 2022 launch of its ChatGPT A.I. chatbot and has since become one of the fastest-growing private companies in the world.

However, OpenAI faces increased competition from other A.I. start-ups such as Anthropic and established technology giants such as Alphabet (GOOGL).

As a result, OpenAI has released a flurry of new products in recent months, including its Codex app and related browser.

OpenAI is also preparing for a potential initial public offering (IPO) either later this year or in 2027, depending on market conditions.

Currently, OpenAI’s stock is not traded on a public stock exchange.
