Only 8% of Americans Now Have A Positive View Of Crypto: Survey

A new CNBC All-America Economic Survey has found that only 8% of Americans now have a positive view of cryptocurrencies following several high-profile scandals and bankruptcies across the industry.

The survey found that 43% of the public have a negative view of cryptocurrencies, up from 25% this past March. The percentage with a positive view fell to 8% from 19% in the spring.

People who say they remain neutral on digital coins and tokens fell to 18% from 31% previously.

The declining support follows several high-profile collapses of cryptocurrency lenders, brokerages, and exchanges in recent months, with the biggest one being the $8 billion U.S. implosion of digital exchange FTX.

Earlier in 2022, cryptocurrencies were being celebrated with multiple Super Bowl ads and celebrity endorsements from athletes such as NFL quarterback Tom Brady and actors such as Matt Damon.

According to the survey, 42% of cryptocurrency investors now have a very negative view of the digital asset class.

The survey of 800 Americans was conducted nationwide in the U.S. from November 26 to 30 and has a margin of error of +/- 3.5%.
