Bitcoin’s Price Hits Highest Level Since January

Bitcoin’s (BTC) price has risen above $85,000 U.S. and reached its highest level since January of this year as investors crowd back into the cryptocurrency trade.

Bitcoin was trading at $85,150 U.S. early on Sept. 21, up 5% in the past 24 hours and near its highest level of the year.

The price of BTC is gaining ground amid growing signs that the “crypto winter” that began last October might be nearing its end.

After hitting an all-time high of $126,000 U.S. on Oct. 6, 2025, Bitcoin’s price fell to a low of $58,000 U.S. at the end of June this year.

However, Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies have rallied strongly since the end of August, with the price of Bitcoin gaining more than 25% and rising from below $65,000 U.S.

Other digital assets are also up sharply on Sept. 21, with Ethereum (ETH) rising 4% to trade at $2,730 U.S. Dogecoin (DOGE) is up 7% and trading at $0.09 U.S.

The current rally comes even after the U.S. Senate last week blocked the Clarity Act legislation from advancing.

That bill would set a regulatory framework for cryptocurrencies in the U.S. and divide oversight of the sector between the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).

Some analysts say that Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are rebounding as investors rotate out of artificial intelligence (A.I.) stocks an allocate capital to other growth areas of the market.
